HUNGARY

Iran, Hungary for stronger ties

Iran’s President Ahmadinejad says Tehran and Budapest can take steps to establish global peace and security via boosting friendship.

Upon receiving the credentials of the new Hungarian Ambassador to Tehran Giorgy Boustin, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad assessed the Iranian and Hungarian nations’ ties as deep, historic and amicable. „All grounds for the expansion of ties and cooperation between Tehran and Budapest are in place,” Ahmadinejad said.

The President pledged Iran’s support for the enhancement of reciprocal ties with Hungary, enumerating agricultural, investment, transportation and scientific cooperation as the common grounds for enhancing relations. „Budapest attaches great importance to the historic relations of the two states,” the new Hungarian ambassador said, calling for an all-out expansion of ties with the Islamic Republic. Referring to the common interests of Tehran and Budapest, Boustin itemized energy and development of railway and public transportation as areas for promoting Tehran-Budapest cooperation.
