2004 foreign direct investment reaches three year high at $7 billion

According to a report published by Rzeczpospolita, foreign companies invested at least $7 billion in Poland in 2004, which is the best result since 2001.

Last year was a breakthrough year, and after several disappointments, Poland managed to attract many significant investors, including Gillette, Whirlpool and Philips. Several other global companies have relocated their research and accounting centers here. The list of top foreign investors opens with trading companies, developers and logistics companies.

Number one, according to Rzeczpospolita, is Hungarian developer, TriGranit Development, which plans to construct a commercial and entertainment center in Katowice, worth a total of $780 million.

The second and third places are taken by IKEA, which plans to invest $465 million by 2007 and Parkridge CE and Morley fund which will spend $260 million on a logistics center in Piotrków Trybunalski. (Rzeczpospolita, pp. A1, B1) A.K.
