Abramovich Registers Investment Vehicle in Russia

Billionaire Roman Abramovich has registered an investment fund in Russia to target domestic companies, Interfax reported Thursday.

Millhouse, which was registered last month, mirrors the name of the private London-based asset management company Millhouse Capital, which is owned by Abramovich and former executives of oil firm Sibneft.

Millhouse Capital declined to comment. A person close to the firm, however, said the new fund would reinvest the cash Abramovich earned from the sale of Sibneft to Gazprom last year.

"They made a lot of money from Sibneft, and they want to reinvest it in Russia," the source said.

"Abramovich never said that he was selling out of Russia," the source said, adding that it was the media that had "cast Roman out of the country."

Through affiliated firms the billionaire still has stakes in commercial retail estate firm CMI Development and Prodo-Trade, the second-largest meat-product manufacturing company in Russia, said the source and a report by Ignatov & Company research agency.

Prodo-Trade is a former unit of Planeta Management holding, which was set up by former Sibneft executives.

Earlier this month, Vedomosti said Ambramovich might be looking at a stake in Evraz. Evraz did not comment.
