PiS manages to win confidence vote with the support of minority parties

Thanks to the votes of Polish Families' League (LPR), Self-Defense, Law and Justice (PiS) and the Polish Peasants' Party (PSL), the cabinet of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz was given a vote of confidence on Thursday night.

PiS announced that they want to use the support to combat "the pathological interrelations between the secret services, business, politics and the mafia." Jaroslaw Kaczynski made it clear that according to him, there was never a chance for the Civic Platform (PO) and PiS to come to an agreement in terms of their political programs. He stated that the implementation of PO's tax plans would lead to a strengthening of the position of the rich at the expense of other social groups. Another of PO's ideas, scrapping the subsidizing of political parties from the budget, was criticized by Kaczynski as "an attempt to exclude many political forces from the democratic system". The PiS leader believes that the radical programs of LPR and Self-defense better address the country's real problems. The head of PO, Donald Tusk, recalled that Kaczynski has said some time ago that Self-Defense was established by secret services for the purpose of running illegal businesses. "Hypocrisy and cynisism. This is not a good basis for a turnaround in Poland," said Tusk.
