E.ON Energie Signs Contract to Buy the North-eastern Bulgarian Power Distribution Companies

Germany's E.ON Energie has signed a contract to buy the north-eastern Bulgarian power distribution companies in Varna and Gorna Oryahovitsa.

Under the agreement the German company will acquire 67% of the companies' assets.

The offer of 140.7 million euros from E.ON Energie was chosen in July in preference to bids from Public Power Corporation AA (Greece), Enel (Italy) and CEZ (Czech Republic).

The Czech Republic's CEZ and Austria's EVN will be the new owners of, respectively, the Western and the Southeast pools of companies.

The 693.2 million euro deal for the stakes in the utilities will be completed in October when the transfer of the shares will be finalised.
